The exhibition brings together non-figurative works focused on abstraction, form, colour, composition, and the autonomous presence of the artwork.

PAPIR! brings together more than 40 artists in an exhibition devoted to paper as material, surface and medium. The exhibition includes works by Marie Birkedal alongside Svend Wiig Hansen, Mette Winckelmann, Doris Bloom, Lin Utzon and others, combining contemporary contributions with works from the gallery’s collection. Twenty Years of GLUE, Berlin, 2024. Group exhibition at GLUE, curated by DAG. Marie Irmgard Birkedal participated with the first work in the series Seven Lots of Luck and Eight Great Treasures, a dense black oil painting measuring 40 × 30 cm, conceived as more sculptural than painterly.

UNTERM LEDERHIMMEL — Marie Birkedal and Gloria Zein at Alte Feuerwache, Berlin, 16 March–12 May 2024. Painting and sculpture presented together in the exhibition space, with an artist talk moderated by Rahel Schrohe and a finissage on 12 May.

Marie Birkedal in Stranger Things, a group exhibition at Runde Ecke, Kulturforum Dresden, 2023, with DAG, Ulrike Mundt, Holger Pohl, Wieland Payer and Heinz Schmöller. Supported by Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen and the Amt für Kultur und Denkmalschutz, Landeshauptstadt Dresden.

8 × 12, FLOOR_, Seoul, 24 September–7 November 2022. The exhibition brought together 48 artists and 87 works, all made in the same 8 × 12 inch format (20.3 × 30.5 cm) and installed as a continuous line through the space. Marie Birkedal participated with State Hospital Divine Blue Sun, titled after the American Beat poet John Wieners.

Marie Birkedal is included in the 72nd A•ONE Exhibition at Silvermine Galleries, Silvermine Arts Center, New Canaan, Connecticut, 3 September–20 October 2022. Juror Sharon Butler selects work by established and emerging artists for Silvermine’s national contemporary art exhibition.

Hard Earned Innocence, 2020, an exhibition by Marie Birkedal consisting of eight paintings on prepared paper. The works combine apparent fragility with a tangible material presence, developed through colour baths, rinsing, painting and processes of chemical reaction over time.

Alternative >f>acts brings together works by Nándor Angstenberger, Jessica Buhlmann, Cécile Dupaquier, Marie Birkedal, Karsten Konrad, Jan Muche and Haleh Redjaian at Laura Mars Gallery in Berlin. The exhibition is presented by GLUE, the fluid project-space concept co-founded by artist DAG in 2004, and curated by DAG. Taking place from 13–20 July 2019, with an opening on 12 July, the exhibition continues GLUE’s long-running format of presenting artists living and working in Berlin through changing locations across the city.
